A LITTLE HISTORY OF AN IRISH LASS KICKER
Rebecca Quin was born January 30th1987. she is an Irish professional wrestler currently signed to WWE under under the ring name Becky Lynch. She has performed on WWE's NXT, Monday Night RAW and SmackDown brands. She is a former SmackDown Women's Champion. Quin previously wrestled on the independent circuit under the ring name Rebecca Knox.
Quin began training as a professional wrestler under Fergal Devitt (Finn Balor) and Paul Tracey in June 2002, and made her debut five months later. Initially working in Ireland and occasionally teaming with her brother, she soon expanded her career into the rest of Europe. She wrestled regularly for the France-based Queens of Chaos promotion, and won the World Queens of Chaos Championship in 2006. She also wrestled for England's One Pro Wrestling and Germany's German Stampede Wrestling. She competed in the SuperGirls Wrestling promotion, an offshoot of Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling. She was the promotion's inaugural SuperGirls Champion and held the championship for 10 months and two days.
She also appeared at ChickFight III, where she made it to the second round of the tournament. In 2006, she debuted for the all-female Shimmer Women Athletes promotion, and was involved in a series of matches with Daizee Haze, including an acclaimed two-out-of-three falls match. In September 2006, Knox suffered a head injury during a match in Germany, and was diagnosed with possible damage to her eighth cranial nerve. She was scheduled to return to wrestling in 2008, but no-showed the event, stating she no longer felt that wrestling was the right option for her at that time. She later returned to Shimmer as a manager in 2011, before signing a contract with WWE in 2013.
On 8 April 2013, it was reported that Quin had signed a two-year developmental deal with WWE and had moved to Florida to report to their developmental territory NXT. On 29 August, Quin's new ring name was revealed as Becky Lynch, and she debuted at an NXT live event in November.
WOMEN'S REVOLUTION IN WWE
Lynch made her official main roster debut on the July 13th episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, where Stephanie McMahon called for a "revolution" in the "Divas" Division. No more lingerie pillow fights, but real women competing and being taken seriously. Ric Flair's daughter Charlotte and Snoop Dogg's cousin Sasha Banks also debuted that night. Sasha Banks would ally with Naomi and Tamina a.k.a. Team B.A.D.(Beautiful And Dangerous), leading to a brawl between the three teams of B.A.D. Team Bella (Brie and Nikki Bella with Alicia Fox) and Paige, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch.
The trio of Paige, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch were called "Submission Sorority". However, WWE did not realize that name is actually used for a pornograhic website. The team was renamed to "P.C.B", after the first name initials of each wrestler.
Lynch made her in-ring debut on the July 20th episode of Raw, where she and Paige lost to Sasha Banks and Naomi, but she was able to earn her first singles victory, over Brie Bella, on the July 28th episode of Main Event. The three teams ultimately faced off at SummerSlam, in a three-team elimination match, where Lynch pinned Brie Bella to win the match for P.C.B.
Lynch faced Sasha Banks and Charlotte for the WWE Women's Championship at Wrestlemania. Unfortunately, she was unsuccessful at winning the title.
COME AT ME BRO!
After being drafted to SmackDown as part of the 2016 WWE draft which took place on July 19th,Lynch made her first appearance for the brand on the 26th of July, where she defeated Natalya before being confronted by the brand female talents. At Backlash on September 11th 2016, Lynch won a six-pack elimination challenge by last eliminating Carmella to become the inaugural SmackDown Women's Champion, marking her first title victory in WWE.
Becky Lynch is one of my favorite modern day female wrestlers. She has worked hard, she looks great, she is tough and as she likes to say, she is straight fire!
